The Residence Halls Association (RHA) serves as the official voice of the residential community. Sometimes we release formal statements to inform and engage our residents and the student body. These communications often serve as calls to action, directed toward the university on behalf of our constituents.

June 2026 – Residence Hall Association Addresses Unexpected Temporary Closure of Baits II Houses
In June 2026, Michigan students were abruptly notified that 4 out of 5 of Baits II Houses would be temporally closed for the 2026-2027 year due to maintenance concerns. RHA addresses both the abruptness of this news and confirms support of Baits II and North Campus Residents

June 2026 – Residence Halls Association Declines National Conference Attendance Due to Anti-DEI Policy
In June 2026, the RHA shares the reasoning behind their decision to not attend the national NACURH conference in May, relating to the anti-DEI policies of the host institution and state.

In January 2026, the RHA reached out MDFAC to advocate for the interests of residents’ experiences in the dining halls, hoping to work with them and MDining in creating functional and accessible experience for all students
