It's Your Chance

The Residence Halls Association provides a great opportunity for students to get involved in their residence hall community. Whether you just want to help plan a study break event with your building’s Hall Council, or you want to be an RHA Committee Chair, there are tremendous leadership options out there waiting for you.

Hall Councils & Multicultural Councils
To become involved with the Hall or Multicultural Council in your building, contact the president of the council with which you would like to get involved. Contact information for council presidents can be found on our website under "representatives." You can also contact your Hall Director to get involved as well.

Assembly Representatives
Every residence hall elects 2-4 RHA Assembly Representatives depending on the size of the building. RHA Assembly Representatives devote a fair amount of their time to RHA by attending all weekly RHA Assembly meetings and serving on RHA Committees, in addition to their roles with the Hall or Multicultural Council in their building. RHA Assembly Representatives make up the central structure of student government in the Residence Halls through actions such as voting on legislation, allocating funds from the RHA budget, and working closely with administration officials. To become an RHA Assembly Representative, contact the RHA Executive Vice President at rha.evp@umich.edu.

Committees
Committees are a great way for Representatives, as well as council members and Staff Members to be highly involved in the process of putting of programming for the entire Residence Hall Community, writing legislation to influence concerns or policies for all Residence Halls, develop new ideas on ways to improve the halls, or simply provide your input on issues that will affect future U of M students living in the halls. Committees are beneficial because they provide students with choices to get involved with a committee that focuses specifically personal interests and abilities in a way that has a tremendous impact.

Executive Board
The RHA Executive Board is comprised of nine individuals who devote an extensive amount of time to the organization. The members of the RHA Executive Board are elected in the spring by the RHA Assembly and serve a term of one year. If you are interested in serving on the RHA Executive Board, contact the RHA President at rha.president@umich.edu.
